Portrait and landscape refer to the orientation of the frame:

• Portrait means the frame is taller than it is wide (vertical).
  
• Landscape means the frame is wider than it is tall (horizontal).
  

So, choose portrait for upright photos and landscape for wider photos.

Each frame comes with a sturdy strut back, so it can be
displayed either portrait or landscape on any flat surface. There’s also
a hanging option, making it easy to display your frame on the wall - wherever
it feels most at home.
